The house is located just a block from the food co-op, on a relatively quiet street. This second floor bedroom is 11.5' x 9.5' with one window facing south-ish and other residences' backyards. A portion of the low-and-long-shaped closet outside the room can be available as storage. The walls and ceiling are painted white, about half of the ceiling is sloped, the floor is wood, and the heat is provided by steam convector. To add some color to the room you can pin things to the walls, we can paint it in warm weather, etc. Staying in the room for your use are a full-size bed with mattress encasement, dresser with mirror and lamp, and window fan. Other furniture can be acquired. Both a desk and a clothing rack have fit along the rightside wall. You will join 3 people currently living in the house: 2 renters and the homeowner with ages in 40s and 30s. There is one low-energy pet cat here. Rent includes utilities and 1x/month housecleaning of common areas, and a hope is that the renter will contribute to our house-culture of energy/resource conservation. Washer and dryer, cook stove/oven and refrigerator provided. Typical common areas on first floor to be shared: kitchen, living room, full bathroom (with washer and dryer), some storage space, small yard (mostly a garden in the growing season). Shared responsibility for keeping common areas tidy. No smoking indoors. Minimal to no synthetic fragrances, unhealthy chemicals, etc. Low-impact pets considered. Parking: there is a garage and a small driveway, with one space I leave available for guests and your brief use for (un)loading and occasional parking. If you have a car, you'll need to park it elsewhere. The Preston Lot and the Parking Garage (both on Flat St.) are the closest Town-owned-and-fee-based options. Overnight street parking is only allowed Apr-Nov. We can talk to neighbors to see if they potentially have space for you to park. Jan.23 update: my adjacent neighbor has given permission for one car, but not for forever. I'm aiming to rent to someone who has experience being responsible for a house, because I'd like to travel and leave my house in the good hands of people who will regularly notice and check on things and communicate with me. If you're that person, then parking would be included for you here when I'm away. If what we agree on seems above-and-beyond typical renting, then we'll figure out a discount to your rent. There's a rental application, a security deposit, and the lease is month-to-month with a starting requirement of at least several months. References and proof of ability to pay rent requested. Before giving you the application, I like to exchange some emails in which you describe your situation and your thoughts on the details of this rental. Just ask for photos of the rest of the house and I'll be happy to provide them. Since this is a rental within the owner's home, my application process is not as streamlined as is, perhaps, typical for renting an apartment.
