Description:
General Description:
The admissions counselor serves as a critical member of the SIT Study Abroad enrollment management team that works to attain enrollment targets for field-based study abroad programs. The position works independently and collaboratively to implement strategic plans for admissions related activities, including, but not limited to, enrollment and retention under the supervision of the Director of Admissions. The primary focus of this position is proactive student contact and conversion throughout the inquiry, application, and pre-departure processes. The admissions counselor advises prospective students and applicants about admissions policies and procedures and makes admissions decisions.
Responsibilities:
o Answer student and parent inquiries and provide excellent customer service via telephone and email
o Advise and assist students with program selection, academic fit, admissions process, credit transfer, and sources of funding
o Review complete applications and make admissions decisions
o Track enrollment for assigned programs
o Contribute to the development and implementation of retention strategies
o Coordinate and facilitate pre-departure information and preparation, including visa and travel logistics
o Produces and analyze reports on admissions activities
o Serve as backup to other admissions counselors
o Occasionally represent SIT Study Abroad at study abroad fairs and pre-departure orientations as assigned
o Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Admissions

Qualifications:
o Study Abroad experience
o Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
o Commitment to student-centered approach with the ability to relate effectively to students, parents, and colleagues
o International experience, preferably in an undergraduate study abroad program
o Ability to present programs in a professional manner
o Demonstrated analytical ability and attention to detail
o Good organizational and multi-tasking skills
o Demonstrated ability to work as a team player
o Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer, database utilities and social networking
Preferred
Qualifications:
o Alumni of SIT Study Abroad or International Honors Program (IHP), preferably with travel experience in Africa, South of the Sahara (East Africa, West Africa, southern Africa)
o Proficiency in a foreign language, preferably French
o Experience in college admissions or study abroad office
o Knowledge of Salesforce (CRM)

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
